A8 Meditation and fresh air. This sounds easy, but having 3 littles of my own it becomes increasingly important to schedule time to recharge and reconnect. #oklaed

Q8) There are 2 sides to the achievement formula: teaching & learning. Now, researchers are starting to explore the benefits of a T taking time to renew, recharge, & energize themselves as a person. Share a best practice on how you take care of you. #oklaed

Q7) Class size is a real issue. We need continued teacher and support personnel salary increases to keep and attract teachers to OK. We must not only increase education funding but also increase funding to services that serve our kids. Norman has some great Legs! #oklaed

Q7) With the legislative session approaching fast, we know #oklaed will once again be an #okleg priority. Is there an edu policy or reform you want to see happen? What best practice do you use to communicate these ideas to your community & POLs?

A8: Recharging is essential. You can't give out what you do not have. You must take time to unplug and refuel. Spend time with family, friends, rest, etc. I work out, spend time w family, go to the beach when possible. Play golf, soak up sunshine, go for a walk. Have Fun.#oklaed

A7) I believe in more funding for counselors to be counselors and not test-administrators. I think this is a must!!! I also would like to see more funding for smaller class size. I know I can do more with less Ss. #oklaed
      • James409Jason Jan 13 @ 9:52 PM EST
#oklaed On "funding" answers to Q7. We need to be more specific. "funding" is too easy to say NO too. But Funding for more library books is hard to deny. Funding for more DHS workers is hard to argue against.

A7-P2) Scholarships for POC to enter the teaching profession, restore the use of textbook money to be only for textbooks, restore class size limits, training on ELL/Sped. #oklaed

A8) I don’t take anything home and I don’t stay late. I am however on meds for anxiety, blood pressure, and migraines so I haven’t nailed the part about taking care of myself yet. But, ask any teacher we are on meds for something. Someone should do a study on that #oklaed

I can’t! I can’t afford it, and I wouldn’t know what to do with myself! I think Kevin Hime will have to deal with me until he retires, and then I’ll be passed off to yet another supt! #oklaed

Teacher shortage better be a priority. What do we do when the veteran teachers start retiring? #oklaed
  • dougeb00 Jan 13 @ 9:59 PM EST
School to work pipeline emphasizing internships. Working to normalize online curriculum across the state. Increase funding for transportation costs. #oklaed

A8: We all need healthy boundaries. As educators we tend to take on more than we should and self-care gets sacrificed. I have to honor the introvert I am in order to be able to serve others. #oklaed

A7) I really want to see SB 11 pass. I truly believe moving the entry date for both Pre-K and K would be beneficial. When I have retained those Ss with summer birthday, I have seen a remarkable jump in academic and social skills. #oklaed
