A3) recongnizing that the teacher shortage wasn’t created by one problem and can’t be answered with a single solution. Oklahoma needs to support its teachers financially and morally. We all want what’s best for our children and a few bucks helps, but more must be done #oklaed

A1. It's all about recruiting and retaining Oklahoma educators. We've been very fortunate to have emergency certified staffers for the past +5 years. That is not a sustainable model nor solution. We've got to pay Ts and fund schools 1st. #oklaed
  • Stv_Gilliland Sep 30 @ 9:21 PM EDT

A6: CLASS SIZE!! oh did I yell? Good! Because I started the year with 25 4th graders and that’s a lot and I know I’ll get more. I bet I end the year around 30. This is not okay! We need teachers, we need to be able to pay the teachers. Help us! #oklaed
  • jonechols Sep 30 @ 9:44 PM EDT
Reach out to them, email them, if they put their personal cell phone out there call or text it. Develop relationships. Share your stories. After the elections it doesn’t matter who you voted for, your Rep. or Senator now represents you. Don’t be afraid to reach out! #oklaed

A6 Is this a trick question? 😘 nearly all of my #oklaed priorities are linked to a shortage of $. Certified teachers in every classroom, updated or current resources for every subject, and a focus on trauma informed instruction. #OklaEd

  • Johnsonmath Sep 30 @ 9:46 PM EDT
A7 We all need to introduce ourselves to the new legislators and have respectful conversations. We need to encourage them to think about what education really needs. We need to make sure that we are there to visit with about our needs. We can't sit back and just watch! #oklaed
  • blake_delao Sep 30 @ 9:46 PM EDT
A5: More certified teaching positions. We have seen cuts in our school system and in need of more teaching positions due to growing population and larger class sizes. #OklaEd
  • JJBurnam Sep 30 @ 9:46 PM EDT
Schools are not widget factories. Teachers offer nurturing and care for young minds. With appropriate long-term funding, schools can replenish staff, and classrooms can be the centers of discovery, thought stimulation, and learning that our kids need. #oklaed
  • MaryBoren2018 Sep 30 @ 9:46 PM EDT
A6) review accountability of charter schools, eliminate unfunded mandates, eliminate A-F, protect counselors from being used as testing coordinators so they can provide supports to prevent bullying, help traumatized students, & assist with academic interventions. #oklaed
  • djthoreson Sep 30 @ 9:47 PM EDT
I have a question for you about this. I live and work in two different counties. I can vote for the one where I live, but the other votes for my school. Which should I spend more time with? #oklaed

  • jonechols Sep 30 @ 9:49 PM EDT
Great question. First relationship is with your personal member. That is where you have the most influence. However, I think you should also feel free to engage the members where you teach. Good members will welcome your feedback if you teach in their district. #oklaed
