Students play bingo by solving algebraic equations
Publisher: 4TheKingdom Apps

Why we love this app

This app provides students the repetitive practice needed for solving equations. Within a very short period of time, students have the opportunity to solve numerous equations and practice the skill. There are several skills assessed, providing students ample exposure to solving equations using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with both positive and negative numbers.

What it teaches and how it works

Students open the app and select a teacher. Next, they are allowed to choose a type of Bingo game where they might be working to get a straight line, four corners, blackout, etc. After selecting a game, they select a level. This is where parent/teachers select problems based on the students' needs. The options for practice are: Addition with + Answers; Addition with - Answers; Addition with 2 - Answers; Subtraction; Subtraction with - Answers; Multiplication; Multiplication with - Answers; and Multiplication with Addition. After selecting one of these topics, students are given an equation and the bingo card is filled with possible answers. When the student taps the correct answer on the Bingo Card, a marker is placed. If they tap the wrong answer, nothing happens but their incorrect answer is reflected in their running total. As the student plays, the app keeps track of how many were answered correctly or incorrectly as well as keeping track of time. Once students get Bingo, the app tells how many were wrong, how many were right, and the total time it took to play the game. In addition, it compares the total time it took to play as well as gives you the best playing time.

Why your kid won't be able to put it down

Alge-Bingo is a fun way to practice the skills of solving equations. Students' correct and incorrect answers are marked as well as a total time for playing. Students are motivated with the Bingo scenario as well as the timing and identification of correct answers. This also helps parents/teachers gauge how much guessing is going on.
