Why we love this app

While this app may remind you of one of the most popular game shows of all time, there is no Vanna White here! Even for the youngest of learners, who haven't even begun taking spelling tests, this app can be extremely useful and fun as children get to know the letters and their sounds. Want to hear belly laughs from your children? Simply adjust the settings to speak very slowly or quickly and build words or strings of letters and the hysterical laughing will make the app worth every penny. We're not sure this was the intended use of the app but we consider it an added bonus! The adaptability of the app is outstanding. You can adjust many settings and have several voice and text choices as well.

What it teaches and how it works

By dragging each letter onto the board the child is receiving constant feedback about either letter name or sound (depending upon how you have it setup in settings). Children can build words or sentences and have the app read them back. For older children, you can set up spelling lists and the child can be quizzed for that week's spelling test!

Why your kid won't be able to put it down

Children are drawn to this app again and again for its straight forward approach to word building. Even children who are far from ready to begin building words will love being able to have immediate feedback each time they touch a letter. There is no right or wrong answer with this app and children love the flexibility. Threes and fours will just love filling the screen with one letter and hearing it said aloud dozens of times times...JJJJJJJJJJJJJ. You get the idea. Remember to let them explore the settings to see what happens when you adjust speed and accent.
