Why we love this app

Complete Class Organizer really tries to live up to its name! Not just a class organizer, this app packs in the ability to take course notes, record lectures, and track your grades. The intuitive layout is easy to navigate even if a bit of screen space is lost due to the graphics along the bottom. This app really does provide a complete package of student organization features in a single app.

What it teaches and how it works

Complete Class Organizer is featured-packed and it all begins with setting up your semester and adding classes. Once created, classes will appear by semester along the right side with a small week view schedule. The center of the screen shows a tabbed area featuring your To Dos. Tapping on a class opens the page for that class. Once on the Class Page, you'll be able to see the class details, along with instructor and textbook information. At the bottom of the Class Page is a listing of your To Dos for that class. Nestled in between these sections are two buttons- "Add a Session" and "Grade Calculator". Tapping "Add a Session" opens a new notetaking session for this class. Complete Class Organizer has a surprisingly powerful notetaking app that features full audio recording, text formatting, picture importing, freehand drawing, and even the ability to double-tap a word to immediately look it up in the dictionary, or on Google and Wikipedia. To add an assignment, first select the class and then tap "Add an Item" The app provides several assignment types to choose from. Add any needed details and set a completion date. You can also set a reminder for the item, and choose to add it to your iPad calendar as well. One nice feature about the reminder is that the standard available options are more fitting to a class assignment. In many student organizer apps setting a reminder takes you to the normal iOS reminders that starts with 5 minutes before, 10 minutes before, etc. Complete Class Organizer realizes that a reminder five minutes before an assignment is due is really too late so it provides more realistic choices such as 6 hours before, 12 hours before, etc.

Why your kid won't be able to put it down

As with any productivity app, students will not be begging for Complete Class Organizer but if your student needs a little help staying organized, this may well be worth the $4.99. The app does not claim to 'teach' or 'assess' anything, so we have taken that into consideration in our Report Card score, but rest assured, this app is packed with features. The price is reasonable considering that Complete Class Organizer is both an organizer and notetaking app. It connects with Dropbox and Google Docs. PDF's and other documents can be imported from email into the app. In the notetaking section, the app has a built-in collection of mathematic symbols. The connection to online resources doesn't stop with the ability to look up terms either. Textbook information can be imported from online sources such as Amazon. Additionally, the app provides a powerful way to track assignment grades.
