Why we love this app
This is more a companion than a guide. We love the way Campuseek helps students not only by providing information about specific colleges, but by also allowing prospective students to compare their top choices side by side, particularly after they have had time to visit. Students can use this app to help plan a visit, but more importantly, it allows them write notes, keep photos, and even record audio from tours or interviews. This allows their impressions to remain fresh when all the visiting is over and it's time to make choices. We also appreciate how the app guides students to key documents like financial aid and admission web pages, opening those links within its own browser.
What it teaches and how it works
Students search for schools of interest. They then access pages with the links mentioned above along with a section for contact and visit details, campus photos including some cool panoramics, other students' ratings out of five stars (although this area is sparse), and a place to store whatever information they take away for consideration and comparison later.
Why your kid won't be able to put it down
The long-term use is inherent in that the point of Campuseek is to use the app as a companion when scouting schools for comparison both in late fall when applications are due, and again in the spring when final decisions about where to matriculate have to be made.
